In Bluebeam Revu, you can change your Revu interface’s appearance from the main menu by navigating to Revu > Preferences > General > Options. This guide will help you find how to customise General Preferences in Bluebeam Revu. Let’s explore this in detail.

Navigating to General Preferences > Options

To change your General Preferences in Bluebeam Revu:

Step 1 – Click on the “Revu” option from the main menu.

Step 2
– From the dropdown menu, click “Preferences.”

A “Preferences” dialog box will appear like the one below.

You can also open the Preferences dialog box by holding CTRL + K.

Step 3 – In the left panel, go to “General.” Then, select the “Options” tab from the top.

Under the Options tab in General Preferences, you can change or set the following attributes and features:

  • Name
  • Language (Choose from the drop-down menu)
  • Theme (Light or Dark)
  • Tab Truncation (Start or End)
  • Open PDF on Startup (Browse)

In options with checkboxes, you can choose whether to or not to:

  • Show Full-Screen Crosshair
  • Reopen Files from the Last Session on Startup
  • Open Home Page in Web Tab on Startup
  • Show Recent Files on Startup
  • Help Bluebeam improve its products and services by sending usage data automatically.

Let’s discuss the usage of each option in detail.

You can change your User (username), a Bluebeam Display Name used in Studio to identify the edits and markups you perform while working in Studio. e.g., taimoor @BG

You can set your preferred Language from the dropdown list with 13 options.

By default, Revu uses the “Dark theme”. But you can set a dark or light Theme as per your preferences, depending on the environment you are working in.

Tip: To reduce eyestrain, you can set a dark or light theme for dull or bright room lighting conditions. Similarly, dark colours are better for high-contrast monitors, while light colours are better for low-contrast monitors.

Revu 21 - Dark Theme

Revu 21 - Light Theme

Choose your desired theme from the dropdown menu, then click “OK.”

Show Full-screen Crosshair

When selected, a large Full-Screen Crosshair that reaches the edges of the workspace will appear whenever your cursor is in a workspace.

Check the crosshair checkbox and click “Ok”.

It will make it easier to align markups and see exactly where you are clicking.

Tab Truncation

The Tab Truncation option determines how file names appear in document tabs (shortened document titles on opening multiple tabs).

You have 2 options to choose from in the drop-down menu.

  • Start – Shortens the tab name from the beginning of the file name.
  • End – Shortens the tab name from the end of the file name.

For instance, in the example below. The file variations are not visible as they exist at the end of the titles, “Brighter Graphics - Floor Plan X,” where X = 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, & 8.

The tab names are Truncated or shortened from the “End”, hence not reflecting the title variations.

Let's set Tab Truncation to “Start.”

The tab titles are truncated or shortened from the “Start.” The variations are visible as Floor Plans 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, & 8.

You can set your preferred Truncation criteria based on your file name variations.
